MERGER ADVICE

There are some 150 Housing Association groups but barely a quarter have their recent basis in mergers. Most merger proposals don’t stay the course.  Nevertheless, the need for greater efficiency and Government policy to focus Social Housing Grant, have helped generate great merger interest.  

There are a number of types of merger and a number of different aims. But all face pitfalls relating to legal, financial, commercial and cultural fit. The prizes can be great but so can the business and organisational costs.

HOW SECTOR WEEDON GRANT CAN HELP

The Sector Weedon Grant team brings a range of strategic housing, governance, regulatory, business plan modelling, funding, information system and project management skills to Housing Association mergers. These have been developed in a range of merger settings between long-standing Housing Associations, transfer landlords, and existing groups. This enables us to give rounded, evidence-based and well-founded advice in

• Identifying potential partners
• Helping secure informal and in principle agreement
• Undertaking detailed assessment of the business case
• Practical implementation of the merger
